The basics
What is Mulam?
Mulam is a family app for families living far apart. It asks your parent or grandparent one question about their own life every morning. They answer by voice, photo or text, and the whole family can listen, ask more, and keep their memories.
How does it work?
You start a free account and send your parent a link, which takes about two minutes. From the next morning, Mulam asks them one question at 9. They answer, and everyone you’ve invited can hear the answer and reply.
Does my parent need to type, or remember a password?
No. They can answer every question by speaking, and they join from the link you send, without a password.
Can my parent use Mulam in their own language?
Yes. Your parent can switch Mulam to Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Kannada, Bengali, Tagalog, Swahili, Yoruba or Arabic, or keep it in English. These languages are written in English letters, and your parent can answer by voice in whichever language they’re most comfortable with.
What kind of questions does Mulam ask?
Gentle questions about their own life: the home they grew up in, the people who shaped them, the food and festivals they remember, their first job, and what they want their grandchildren to know. It never quizzes them. See 100 questions to ask your parents for the kind of thing it asks.
What are the games?
Grandparents get games made from their own answers: Memory Match, Story Quiz, Photo Puzzle and Ask & Answer, where every round asks them to recall a face, a place or a name from their own life. Grandchildren get culture games: Naam Jaap, Mythology Match and Ask & Answer.
Price and plans
Is Mulam free?
Yes, it is free to start and no card is needed. The free plan includes voice notes, photo prompts, family invites and 3 memory games that help grandparents recall and retell.
How much does Mulam Pro cost?
Pro is $4.69 a month or $36.99 a year. It adds unlimited memories, kept forever, and unlimited Q&A, games and exports. You can upgrade from inside the app and cancel anytime from your account settings.
Privacy and devices
Who can see my parent’s answers?
Their answers are shared with the family on Mulam, not posted publicly. Mulam uses bank-level encryption and never shows ads. The privacy policy has the details.
Which phones does Mulam work on?
Mulam works on iPhone, iPad and Android. It runs in the browser, and you can add it to the home screen like an app.
Memory and health
Can Mulam help with memory loss or dementia?
Mulam isn’t a medical product, and it can’t diagnose, treat or prevent dementia. Research links loneliness with a higher risk of dementia, and Mulam gives your parent a daily reason to talk with family and remember out loud. If you’ve noticed changes in their memory, speak to their doctor first.
